The organization

DoReMIR Music Research AB (DMIR) is a Swedish research-performing SME with a mission to greatly facilitate the creation and communication of music through superior technology based on musical intelligence. DMIR combines its deep knowledge within music and technology to develop end user applications and services, based on a music analysis engine. DMIR is constantly improving this engine in order to better accomplish its mission and intends to incorporate this project’s results in order to add polyphonic audio transcription capabilities. DMIR’s apps have gained wide exposure in Asia (#1 in Japanese AppStore, #3 in Korea and #5 in China) and won several international awards: EuroBest 2013 Gold winner for best user experience (UX), Cannes Lions Gold winner 2013 “Media, Entertainment & Leisure”, Cannes Lions Silver medallist 2013 “Other Technology for Mobile”.

Relevant skills/experience/technologies

DMIR gathers a rare skillset around music cognition and research, audio analysis and research, music education, software development and international marketing & sales. DMIR has substantial experience in user-driven product design (combining deep end-user understanding of music performance and music education with musical intelligence). DMIR’s music intelligence approach is very relevant to the forthcoming project, in order to solve the challenge of polyphonic music transcription. DMIR has a proven track record in developing successful consumer products with top quality user interfaces. DMIR can leverage the international language of music and music notation in order to reach a global market where it has already developed a solid brand name (ScoreCloud).


kulturamaKulturama

Sub-contractor: Kulturama Medborgarskolan Stockholmsregionen (KUL)

The organization

Kulturama (KUL) is the leading school in Scandinavia for artistic studies at the post-secondary school level. KUL is a separate branch of Medborgarskolan, a non-profit adult study organisation. The school accepts 350 students per year and approximately 3 000 students per term on evening classes. KUL has over 30 years’ experience of running courses and training in a wide range of artistic expressions. We offer 25 full-time courses and 9 part-time courses in song, music, composition, musical production, dance, theatre, opera, show musicals, photography and film.

KUL also includes an upper secondary school (Kulturama Gymnasium) since 2002, teaching 650 students per year. Kulturama Gymnasium has an aesthetic profile and work to combine personal development, high technical skills and a solid theoretical knowledge to every student will be prepared for the artistic as well as the theoretical college/university.

KUL also includes an elementary school (Kulturama Grundskola) since 2011, teaching 1000 pupils per year. Kulturama Grundskola and has an aesthetic profile with dance, music, song and theatre with a creative environment for learning.

Relevant skills/experience/technologies

KUL’s focus on music and performing arts is unique and enables a wide variety of applied training situations in preparation for professional jobs and academic studies. The environment is particularly good for both the learning process of new skills and the development of creativity. The use of ICT is essential and KUL is recognised as pioneer in many ways and has several development programs together with leading partners such as Apple, Avid, etc… Furthermore, Kulturama spends special attention to developing its pedagogical skills and has developed and own process/project “Estetiska läroprojektet” for continuous improvement.


LKALatvian Association of Choir Conductors

Subcontractor: Latvijas kordiriģentu asociācija – Latvian Association of Choir Conductors (LKA)

The organization

Latvia Choir Conducting Association (LKA) is one of the leading organizations supporting choir culture in Latvia. LKA is a non-profit organization gathering together people from different fields of music industry especially those being active in the field of both choir conducting and singing. LKA involves 180 choirs, 168 choir conductors and more than 5 music organisations. LKA itself is an active participant in different music organizations. LKA has 6 year experience of informing people of different kind of music events and actualities as well as of implementation of innovative projects, concerts and culture events. We offer everyone interested to come and initiate innovations, project ideas and or local events that we support to come true. There are 9 board members of the organization, but there are more people employed during project time to ensure there are most experienced and appropriate people working on the event/project. We have a large share of Latvian choir leaders and direct contact with choir singers.

LKA is a place where meet experienced and active culture representatives from all Latvia regions which means we own a good information channel to spread actual information and invitations. LKA has 2 country level portals: www.kori.lv and www.virtualaiskoris.lv that supports an option learn music pieces at home, office or any other place. This is innovation to Latvia and has many users and has got very positive feedback. LKA is a well-known association in the local society and has a wide range project experience, taking part in country festivals, competitions and supporting innovations in music industry that makes us competitive and open to new opportunities.
